Tasty Treats Children Can Help Make

Enjoy these delicious desserts! Kids can join in the fun to make peanut-butter cookies or apple pizza.

1, 2, 3 Peanut Butter Cookies
  • 1 cup peanut butter
  • 1 large egg
  • 1 cup sugar
Typical peanut butter already has sugar added so you may want to decrease sugar. Using a natural style peanut butter will mean no added sugar but it may give you “gooey” dough. You can combat that by adding a small amount of flour to the mixture.

Combine ingredients in a bowl. Form into small balls. Place onto cookie sheet. Use a fork to flatten the dough – traditionally in a crisscross pattern. Bake at 350 degrees for 7 – 10 minutes. Cool and enjoy.

Yield: about 10 to 12 cookies depending on the size.

Apple Pizza
  • 1 package premade pizza dough
  • 2 apples, peeled, cored, sliced
  • 3/4 cup flour
  • 1/3 cup sugar plus 3/4 cup sugar
  • 1 teaspoon cinnamon
  • 1/4 cup (1/2 stick) butter, melted.
Roll out pizza dough. Place on round baking sheet. Arrange sliced apples on dough. Combine sugar and cinnamon in a small bowl and mix. Sprinkle over apples.

Topping: combine flour, sugar and melted butter in a bowl. Mix with hands until topping is crumbly. Sprinkle over pizza as evenly as possible.

Bake at 400 degrees for 20 minutes. Cut into slices and serve warm – wonderful with ice cream.
